everlane luxe drape muscle tank dress review - summer classic

Thanks to you readers I was able to purchase this Everlane Muscle Tank Dress.  It couldn't have come at a more perfect time because the temperatures this summer have been off the charts.  Pair those temps with menopause and honestly, I've been miserable.  I can't remember ever being this hot.

When I saw this dress on their site I knew I had to give it a chance and I'm so glad I did.  Let's go over the pluses first.  Super lightweight yet not cheapy lightweight.  The fabric is 100% lycocell which really does have a luxury drape to it.  Just roll it up and it would pack like a dream - the perfect weekend getaway dress.  I love the cut, as it skims rather than clings, so important in this heat.  Love the neckline and the fact that you can really dress this up or down with jewelry or scarves.  It really is a summer classic.

My only negative about the dress is that it's a tad short.  I'm much more comfortable with my knees covered but in this heat I'm not complaining too much about it.  So if you are looking for a super lightweight easy to wear, classic style I'd say this is a winner.  The price is not bad at $45.  Sizes range from xxs to large.  If you use HERE code I will get credit and it will sign you up so if your friends or family purchase something from Everlane, you will get credit too.  It's a good program from a good company that is very transparent in their manufacturing practices.  They have an oxford shirt coming out soon that I can't wait to get my hands on and will do a review on that too.

Wherever you are I truly hope that you are much cooler than I am.  No, seriously, I hope you are having a wonderful summer and for those who wish summer would never end, I'm thinking it's never going to...x

  2. Very nice on you. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it were longer. I am 5'9 and would need a small. Darn!

  4. I like the length! Ive been off the record bitching nonstop about the heat but am maintaining I don't really mind it because it's making the tomatoes so so good. So at least there's that. Though it's probably too dry out there for the tomatoes to be so so good like they are here. So I support your on the record complaints. though I won't likely face menopause (however I maintain men do go some weird thing in their 50s), I am always burning up so I sympathize with the menopausal community. But it doesn't really seem the same, as hot flashes seem more like nuclear heat than fire.

    1. thank you stephen. the length is pushing it for me but this heat leaves me little choice. lol

i am going on record to say that men most def go thru something like menopause too. i think it affects their brains more so tho. :))))

  5. Love the dress on you. You have very nice legs so the length is very flattering.
I can't wear short skirts as my legs are not attractive and I won't wear anything that shows the knee.
What I do sometimes is purchase a midi or maxi dress and hem it to the length that is most flattering. Or occasionally I've added a border at the nottom in either a contrasting color or another texture of the same color. Once I added a lacy ruffle at bottom of an LBD, which is now a staple for dressy evenings. But you, luckily, can wear almost anything it seems and be beautiful.

  6. Awww...you came back! :)

Cute dress, it looks great on you! The fabric looks very cool...something you desperately need my friend. I thought it was hot where I live but Redlands runs about 10 degrees hotter! But as I said we get the humidity so sometimes it feels 10 degrees hotter haha. I hear ya on the whole menopause crap, I've been dreading summer each year for about the last 8 years. I think I'm finally getting a reprieve though, only an occasional hot flash lately. So there is hope!

    Hope to see you soon!

  8. Such a cool and classy look, Janet. You carry off that length so well with your lovely legs, you are one lucky lady! I have been blessed with tree trunks :-(.
Our summer here has struggled to get off the ground. No fear of hot flushes in temps of around 20c!
Keep on keeping cool in your super dress.

  9. wore jeans & white shirt for decades, for work. Since menopause, linen dresses. Loose.

afraid to wear jeans, might have to rip them off in public.

just ordered interesting variation of linen dress, Eileen Fisher, from the Nordstrom anniversary sale. Just above knees in front, a few inches longer in back. Love it.

Will go to this site ! It's how I found out about the Nordstrom sale, someone's blog post.

BTW, my linen travels well, rolled up. I never iron. A friend was an international model in the 60's, she said they would hang their linen and spritz with water, or hang in bathroom during shower. Yes, this friend, now early 70's is gorgeous. She could still model....

  11. Love this on you. I think the length looks terrific on you. It's been super hot here too, up in the mid- 90's most days which is unusual. For some reason I get more migraines in the heat and I've had so many this summer, I'm not enjoying that. XO

  17. You look ever so chic and trendy, Janet. I so admire you as a woman who's taken care of herself with diet, yoga, walking; taking time to go out looking attractive, with a cute hairstyle and nice clothes (I love your summer straw handbag). Too many women in our age group have let themselves get frumpy and I get appalled at how they present themselves in public...bedhead hair in the wrong way being just one unappealing thing. True, it's Southern California and we're very relaxed here...but, c'mon. My mom, bless her, still tried to make up her face each morning even when she was pushing age 90 and even if she didn't leave the house. I can remember how mid-afternoon, just around the house when I was growing up, that she'd come out of the bathroom with a fresh slick of lipstick. And her hair was always combed!

Hot. Indeed. Days upon days of 90s-temps...until this week, in the 80s, north of you...and, at the moment, 9am-ish, fogged in; lucky, I'm close enough to the beach, so we stay cooler than you. I blog with a couple of other people in the Inland Empire/Riverside...one's in Glendora...and the main subject is the hot summer. I think we're all looking forward to fall, here before you know it. Stay cool!

  21. Of you course you look great, and I wanted to add how happy I am that you paired this black dress with brown sandals. I'm really into the whole contrast thing. Years ago, I would have made sure I had black sandals with this kind of an outfit, but now I think it is just too matchy matchy. I also love black pants with brown boots. I want some of the Everlane silk shirts, but they don't have my size in colors I want. I will be sure to use your link when ordering in the future Janet!

    1. i'm loving the cognac brown with black too and also with white this summer. i do admit to wearing black with it too - mostly for work tho. i own one of the everlane silk shirts and it's pretty luxurious. i bought mine 3 years ago and it still looks new. i did buy a white one they sold but it was too sheer. in their defense they said it was in the description but i wound up returning it. i love their return policy - which is so easy. they have some silks and oxfords coming out i believe next week and i cannot wait as i need a new white shirt bc mine is so old. hope your summer has been nice. xo

  22. The knee thing is a killer but I had to write (albeit a bit after publication) because I was looking at your photos and thinking 'Why do I let the knees worry me when Janet looks so good' and then I read your little anxious comment. No No, you look amazing. I love that length on you and now I will swan into the Australian summer with more confidence wearing short. Thank you, Angela
